The two thugs came at me at the same time. I jumped, did a split-kick and hit them both which brought ‘em down hard. There were only three of the original ten left that came after me. A couple pretty large dudes and a smaller guy with a knife. They were coming right towards me, first the two bigger men, the smaller seeming to be the head of the clan. I had to make a decision at that moment or it would be too late. I didn’t want to fight three at the same time. I could feel the sweat dripping down my sideburns, then onto my whiskered, trembling, face, not having shaved for a couple weeks. I was pretty shaken up. My left hand was broken at the thumb, as was my forearm. A bullet had grazed my thigh as I made a run from their interrogation, which gave me a noticeable limp. My hair was messy and wet with sweat underneath the bandana around my head. Too many years had gone by dealing with these men, running day by day, year after year. I always dealt with the situation but never finished it. Something told me it was time to put an end to this.

I chickened out. I made a run for it and took an alleyway that was hidden close-by. I ran as fast as my feeble body could go, hobbling down the wet pavement. I started to make some distance, miraculously, until I came to a dead end. The fence in front of me was too high to climb, and I strained myself thinking of how I could get out of this mess. There were no other alleyways, just a dumpster, a homeless man and a bunch of broken glass bottles.

I went down to reach for a piece of the glass, just something to defend myself with. Hand to hand fighting just wasn’t gonna cut it at the moment. I needed a weapon. But as I reached down to pick up the glass I heard a “Stop right where you are!”. They had already turned the corner and one of the larger men who yelled at me was pointing a gun right in my direction. I stopped dead. I was really shaking now. My heart dropped and I was struggling for oxygen.

The three walked towards me slowly, the little man with a smirk on his face. I looked at him with disgust. “What’s going on Jimbo? You tired from running yet?”, he cackled. I just stared at him, shaking still, wondering what their next move would be. He took the gun from the big man and walked past him. He raised it to my head and said, “Goodbye Jimbo”, smirking still. A split second after, I threw my head forward, biting the barrel of the gun and ripping it out of his hands. I threw it with my mouth over the fence, making it inaccessible to anyone. He was so surprised he almost lost his balance, when the other large man pulled out a gun. And in the process of raising it to my direction, the homeless man took out a flamethrower and crisped the two large men. He was about to annihilate the small clan leader when I stopped him and said, “Billy!….Leave him to me”. I took the little guy by the collar and slammed him against the dumpster. Still grasping him tightly I raised him up a little. Now we were both shaking: myself from my wounds, and him from his failure.

I looked at him right in the eyes with clenched teeth and waited for him to break down. I just wanted to hear him admit it; that I had him, and he couldn’t do anything anymore. He looked at me with a straight face now. I slammed him again, “Say it!”, screaming. He looked at me for a couple seconds, then looked at the ground. There it is, I thought. Now wait…

“Alright! Alright! You have me! Is that what you wanted to hear Jimmie?! You got me, okay!”, yelling at me. I kept my same face, clenched teeth, looking right into his eyes. I slammed him again, but letting him fall to the ground this time. He got up, ran passed me and backtracked out of the alleyway.

Work on Friday night was tough. It was a little busy, as goes with weekends at any restaurant on Main Street. I tried to get both Friday and Saturday off but I could only get Saturday. It’s okay though. Chris and I decided that I’d go home from work, get changed, head on over to his house(30 mins) and then ride on over to Ethan’s to sleep.

So after work I headed home to get my stuff together. It was probobly already almost 11 pm. I walked downstairs and said hi to my sister Lauren. I told her what was up and how work was, etc. I still smelled of garlic and all the other food residue that I brought home from work(and I still would for the weekend). I packed up a few things: camera, extra clothes, backpack. I put on my hiking boots that Bro. Martin got me before the mission, and set off in my white stallion once again for another adventure.

I arrived at Chris’ house maybe a little after midnight. I went in where soon he would give me a plate of dinner that his grandma made: meatloaf, rice and something..I don’t remember. But the meatloaf was pretty good, I remember that. He got ready a little and eventually his grandmother came down. Us three talked a bit while eating klondikes that they had bought for a birthday party.

Chris and I set off in the stallion on Rt. 3 where we headed towards Ethan’s. We made our way to Wal-Mart to pick up some candy. I got some gummy worms and Almond Joys, and Chris got some gummy bears. I guess Ethan moved while I was gone, or before, and I just didn’t realize it. But we ended up getting directions in the car, over the phone, from one of Chris’ friends at byu. We got off on the right exit and tried finding the first street that we needed to take. We eventually found it, but the next was tougher. We didn’t really find this one. Chris had been there a few times before, but still they were difficult directions to remember. As we were searching, Chris was definitely was inspired and we were guided to the right roads needed. We made it to Ethan’s.

By then it was probably 2 in the morning or so and Ethan wasn’t answering his phone. He probably fell asleep, the loser(all in good fun, he’s mah bro). We decided we didn’t wanna knock on the door at 2 in the morning, so we slept in the driveway in my comfortable cruiser. We declined the two front seats. Chris fell asleep, and I used his phone to text Janey for an hour or so. Eventually we said goodbye and I fell asleep.

Ethan surprised us in the morning by suddenly opening our car door and saying hi. It was about 5:30 at that point. We gave saludos and Ethan invited us in(he said he was making breakfast). We declined and rested a little while Ethan went back inside. Some minutes later Ethan came out with a plate of sausages and cookies, which is a 3 or a 4 in my top 5 food combinations. It was actually really good. I asked him if he was ready to go, and he said he was, so we headed off. He and I were wearing our sick hats that we bought together at the Kingston Mall a while back.

The drive was long, more long and even longer. It’s about a 3 and a half hour drive. On our way there we were a little rambunctious and at one point it came to throwing gummy worms out the window at other cars. I don’t think we ever hit one(the winds were strong that day) but we got close.

Continuing our journey there on the highways of New Hampshire, I looked into my mirror and sure enough, the sharks were on me, a fugitive on the run. I had never been pulled over before and it was a state trooper. I pulled over eventually and he walked up to the passenger side window and said in a strong voice, “Why did it take you so long to pull over?”. I said, “I don’t know sir, I’m sorry”. He asked me again and I said the same thing. Then he said, ” Are you hiding something? What are you hiding?”. I said, “Nothing sir, I promise”. He asked us all to give him our IDs. I gave him my license, as did Chris, and Ethan gave him his byui student ID(the fool doesnt have his license yet haha). The cop asked Ethan if he had a license and Ethan said no. He asked him how old he was, and Ethan said 19. I gave him my registration. Before he went to his mustang trooper cruiser he took us all out, one by one, searching for drugs on our bodies. And as we were standing by the guard rail between the two cars he searched my car, only to find lots of food trash and Ethan’s Jesus the Christ book on the back dashboard(that was a blessing that it was there). He put us back in the car. We waited for a couple minutes until he came back with our IDs and my registration. His whole tone of voice and attitude changed as he spoke to us in a softer tone, “Hey I know this is a sweet ride and you wanna see what it can do, but you gotta take it easy”. I probably said okay or something, and he handed us our IDs. As he walked away Chris asked him for some general directions on how to get to Mt. Washington(lessoned the suspicion, Chris is always inspired). He gave us two routes. We were definitely blessed. I didn’t end up getting a ticket. An hour or so later we made it to the base of Mt. Washington with no other troubles.

I got that bad boy that sits in the driveway about a year ago. Still runs like a champ. Well, it doesn’t sit in the driveway, it sits in some dirt next to the driveway. Gotta give some room for the ‘burban. It’s probably the ugliest thing you’ll see driving down the road, burping out ugly tones that will make you gag. At this point you can’t really tell if it’s original color was white or grey. I’ll fill you in: it was white. That spotted stallion’s got a white base with a grey top. A few random spots of grey can be seen here or there, but it’s all for style baby. When I first got it I would take it out to get myself my very own pizza and spicy buffalo wings. Off to the beach and I would chow down in my very own car, watching the waves, catching my breath and just chilling. Over the year it’s had its moments. First it wouldn’t start. Then recently it wouldn’t start again. With the help of some friends it’s as good as new. Well, maybe not that good, but still works anyways.. I’d been gone for the past six months, and when I came back, the time came where I stepped into this old beast once again to brilliantly remember what I’ve unconsciously missed. I sat down in the old stallion and sure enough, as if it had been yesterday, I could smell that old pizza smell once again to bring back the memories. I turned the keys to start the engine, put it in reverse and hit the road once again.
